The University of Washington, Bothell interdisciplinary arts and sciences lecturer Anna Maria Hong has been awarded a fellowship at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.

The prestigious fellowship brings together male and female scholars from numerous disciplines and from around the globe. Scientists, artists, historians, sociologists, economists and literary scholars come to the program to build a unique multidisciplinary community.

Professor Hong will be in residence at Harvard from September 2010 to May 2011.

Says Hong of her fellowship, “This opportunity will enable me to write the second part of a two-volume sonnet series, which I’ve been writing for some time.”

Hong has taught several writing courses at UW-Bothell, where she emphasizes experimental writing designed to spark original thought and fresh approaches to creative work.

Her experience is in poetry, fiction, nonfiction and multimedia work, and can be seen in various publications including “Growing up Asian American: an Anthology,” (Morrow/Avon Books); The Stranger; Seattle Magazine; American Book Review; and Painted Bride Quarterly.
