University of Washington, Bothell to present Writing for Their Lives literary series

The University of Washington, Bothell’s Writing for Their Lives literary series continues in February with authors Carol Rambo, Chris Cheek and Bill Berkson.

The University of Washington, Bothell’s Writing for Their Lives literary series continues in February with authors Carol Rambo, Chris Cheek and Bill Berkson.

Each author will present their work and participate in a question-and-answer session with the audience.

The events will be held in the UW-Bothell Library, room 205.

February’s events include:

● Carol Rambo

Rambo will appear at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2. Rambo is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Memphis and a cross-disciplinary writer. She is best known for her writing about erotic dancing, incest, trauma and mentally disabled parenting. Rambo challenges the boundaries of sociological and literary writing.

● Chris Cheek

Cheek will appear at 4 p.m. Feb. 10. Cheek is a sound artist, poet, photographer, mixed-media practitioner and interdisciplinary performer. Born in London in 1955, Cheek lived and worked there until the early 1990s, developing his practice of “Performance Writing.” Currently, Cheek is a professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

● Bill Berkson

Berkson will appear at 2 p.m. Feb. 24. Berkson is a poet, critic, teacher and curator. He has published many books of poetry, including “Gloria,” “Our Friends Will Pass Among You Silently” and “Goods and Services.” In addition, Berkson is also a corresponding editor for “Art in America,” an illustrated monthly magazine.

The Writing for Their Lives series is part of the Initiative for Creativity, Performance and Research, funded by the UW-Bothell Worthington Academic Distinction grant. It is also supported by Barbara and Kent Chaplin of Chaplin’s Automotive Group.
