Students at the University of Washington, Bothell and Cascadia Community College are inviting the public to join them on April 21 to observe Earth Day.

Both schools place a significant emphasis on environmental studies and sustainability, and share a campus situated next to one of the region’s most successful wetlands restoration projects.

Between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., visitors will be able to volunteer to remove invasive plant species from the wetlands, check out displays of electric and hybrid vehicles, meet with representatives from several environmentally focused community organizations, or hear a variety of speakers discussing Earth Day related topics. Additionally, one day’s worth of garbage will be on display to demonstrate the amount of waste generated by the campus, and to show what can be composted or recycled.

The event will also include food, poetry, and movies. For a complete list of activities, visit www.uwb.edu.
