IMAGINE, the education program at the University of Washington, Bothell’s new summer youth program, began July 21 with an integrated math, science and language arts curriculum focusing on environmental stewardship.

The brainchild of UW-Bothell education professors Cherry Banks, Karen Gourd and Robin Rider, IMAGINE centers around the UW-Bothell wetlands, providing a meaningful academic and outdoor experience for local middle- and high-school-aged students. The program also serves as a unique learning experience for UW-Bothell education students.

The program runs through Aug. 8, with sessions held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

“Environmental Stewardship” runs through Aug. 8 and teaches practical back-yard conservation practices such as composting, mulching, and GIS mapping, to inspire students to adopt environmental stewardship practices and to share them with others.
