The Washington State Transportation Commission will discuss toll rates and policies for future I-405 express toll lanes at its meeting next week in Olympia.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. on Jan. 22, at the Transportation Building, 310 Maple Park Ave. SE, on the Capitol Campus in Olympia. The meeting is open to the public and persons wishing to speak to the commission may do so during the public comment period scheduled at the end of each day.

On Tuesday afternoon, the commission will hear how additional transit information can simplify car-free travel, and learn about programs to invest in bicycle and pedestrian improvements. The commission also will discuss high occupancy vehicle and express toll lane policies with the Federal Highway Administration and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which operates toll facilities and HOV lanes in the San Francisco Bay area.

The commission will continue its discussion of toll rates and policies for the I-405 express toll lanes, currently under construction between Bellevue and Lynnwood. The commission will seek public input later this spring regarding their proposed I-405 toll rates and policies. The I-405 Bellevue to Lynnwood Express Toll Lanes Project is the first phase of a planned 40-mile-long express toll lane system that will ultimately run from Lynnwood to Renton and connect to the existing SR 167 HOT lanes.
