Six Northshore Science Olympiad teams advance to state competition April 14

Six Northshore Science Olympiad teams qualified for the Washington State Science Olympiad competition to be held April 14 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. Two teams from Canyon Park Junior High and one team each from Bothell High, Inglemoor High, Northshore Junior High and Timbercrest Junior High advanced via their winning placement at regional-level competitions.

Six Northshore Science Olympiad teams qualified for the Washington State Science Olympiad competition to be held April 14 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. Two teams from Canyon Park Junior High and one team each from Bothell High, Inglemoor High, Northshore Junior High and Timbercrest Junior High advanced via their winning placement at  regional-level competitions.

Northshore Junior High’s team placed first, Timbercrest Junior High’s team placed fourth and Inglemoor High’s team placed fourth in their respective divisions at the Northwest Regional Competition held March 10 at Seattle Central Community College. Canyon Park Junior’s Blue team placed first and Gold team placed fourth and Bothell High’s Blue team placed first in their respective divisions at the Northwest Regional Competition held March 17 at Highline Community College.

Canyon Park Junior High state qualifiers are Ben Baek, Arko Banik, Srishti Mathur, Kelby Pierce, Adharsh Ranganathan, Kevin Sim, Carolyn Tang, Ryan Vail, Brandi Burnell, Kelly Ewing, Alison Guard, Robert Ha, Katie Herron, Aditya Jain, Hermanth Kalathil, Saksham Kota, Ali McAllister-Day, Anand Sekar, Ellie Richmond, Casey Sim and Vishnu Viswanathan.

Northshore Junior High state qualifiers are Arianne Mercer, Ariel Stiber, Bailey Cullinan, Cindy Kuang, Jeffrey Maxwell, Maia Stiber, Molly Lie, Nikhil Mandalaparthy, Simon Duchastel and Tyler Couch.

Timbercrest Junior High state qualifiers are Avery Brock, Nick Cosby, Peter Lawson, Fred Nicholson, Teddy Olson, Nate Pietraszak, Christopher Ragan, Tate Reus, Brandon Schwecke and Conor VanderKnyff.

Bothell High state qualifiers are Jake Arlan, Ben Gamman, Charloe Mesecar, Tammy Tarhini, Emily Anthony, Amy Patterson, Teddy Pierce, Issac Renfrow, Zach Thompson, Peter Berge, Katie Guard. Trevor McAllister-Day and Jacob Straus.team

Inglemoor High state qualifiers are  Apurva Raman, Mary Gwin, Trenton Marquette, Kathleen Zhou, Kira Thurman, Cherlyn Chan, Tamar Feldman, Jessica Hagger, Rahul Bachal, Cynthia Zhu, Megan McGrath, Ponti Das, Natalie Shen, Haseeb Malik, Erik Olssen, Nick Pong, Abby Connor, Lydia Olsen, Celia Thurman, Gina Ouellette, Paige Rinnert and Laura Vanlandingham.

In addition to the state qualifiers, Kenmore Junior High’s team placed fifth, Inglemoor High’s Gold team placed seventh, their Black team placed 15th and Bothell High’s White team placed 16th at their regional competitions.
