A green pickup truck crashed into a school bus this morning along 240 Street Southeast, closing a stretch of the street for around two hours.
Around 8:30, the Bothell Police Department said they were called to the scene where they said the green pickup had crossed the center line and struck the bus head-on.
The male pickup driver and the female bus driver were taken to EvergreenHealth, with police describing their injuries as minor. Their names and conditions have not been released.
Only one child was on the bus, and was uninjured, authorities said.
While the investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing, a police spokesman said they suspect the driver of the green pickup may have been under the influence of drugs.
Mike Reid lives next to where the crash happened, and said when he heard it from his house, he came down to see if anyone was hurt.
“I went right onto he bus looking for the kid,” he said. “I just made sure she wasn’t seriously injured.”
He said the child’s parents came down and walked their daughter away from the scene.
Both vehicles received severe front-end damage, though no cost estimates were available.
The crash closed 240 Street Southeast until around 10:30 a.m. between Meridian Avenue South to 7 Avenue Southeast.
