Regional Council recommends transportation funding for Northshore region

The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) is recommending $10.6 million in funding for projects serving Bothell, Kenmore and Mill Creek, part of more than $440 million in federal funds proposed by PSRC to improve transportation around the region.

Projects include:

·         39th/35th Ave SE Corridor Preservation Project- $384,000

·         North Creek Regional Trail – Filbert Rd to 183rd St SE (North Creek Park) – $540,953

·         North Road (SR 524 to 164th St SW) – $3,225,000

·         SR 527/I-405 Interchange to SR 524 Vicinity (paving) – $676,000

·         NE 195th Street/120th Avenue NE Corridor Overlay Project – $350,000

·         SR 522 Multimodal Corridor Phase 3 Improvements (83rd to Wayne Curve) – $4,000,000

·         Juanita Drive NE/68th Avenue NE, NE 143rd Street to NE 175th Street Asphalt Overlay – $636,725

·         164th St SW Preservation (Motor Place to Mill Creek City Limits) -$676,000

·         164th Street SE Overlay – $114,000

“These projects were selected on their merits and support the region’s economic development and growth,” said Bellevue Councilmember Claudia Balducci, chair of PSRC’s Transportation Policy Board.  “When Congress approved these funds earlier this year, their focus was on growing and sustaining jobs.  These projects, large and small, will put people to work and shore up the foundations of our economy for the future.”

PSRC is encouraging public comments on the projects proposed for funding and on the region’s draft Transportation Improvement Program for 2013-2016. The public comment period runs from September 13 through October 25, 2012. To make a comment, send an email to kmcgourty@psrc.org.
