Puget Sound Energy (PSE), 21 Acres and Cascadia Community College will dedicate a newly installed demonstration and informational LCD kiosk enabling the electronic monitoring of on-site solar electricity generation at 21 Acres from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 21.
The 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living is located at 13701 N.E. 171st St., Woodinville.
In addition, the system provides leading-edge energy efficient technologies including insulated block building shell construction, ground source heat pump, radiant slab heating and natural ventilation system preheated through a large earth berm on the buildings south side.
Funded through a grant from PSE, this is a cooperative project between 21 Acres, PSE and Cascadia Community College, whose students, in a newly formed class series titled Energy Informatics, designed the kiosk screen showing energy usage and solar generation. The PSE grant also supports classroom materials for renewable energy education and web-based monitoring software that allows students and interested community members to track how much energy is being generated as the weather changes.
