Due to the cold weather, a pipe burst and water soaked part of the ceiling and poured onto and drenched the carpet of the Bothell Landing Africa Mama shop at about 11:15 a.m. today, according to Bothell firefighters on the scene.
Three units — Ladder 42, Battalion 42 and Engine 45 — responded to the call and helped vacuum and squeegee the carpet along with manager Francis Reza. They also moved some merchandise into the parking lot to make room to work.
All the while, several customers shopped around the mop-up and purchased items.
Firefighters also moved African masks off the walls in order to drop ceiling panels and mend the pipe.
According to Reza, water dripped onto some merchandise, but nothing was damaged.
