Interested parents are invited to attend the K-8 Highly Capable Parent Information Night from 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the Northshore Performing Arts Center. Parents will learn about the elementary and secondary Highly Capable Programs and identification process for students interested in consideration for highly capable services in the 2016-17 school year.
Applications/nominations for students in grades K-11 will be accepted at 4 p.m. Oct. 1 – Nov. 3.
Parents of students in grades K, 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 may submit a nomination/application during the application period. Testing will take place in December for potential services beginning in the following school year.
The district nominates all second- and sixth-grade students for services the following school year (2016-17) by administering the reading and math portions of the ITBS to all students in their classrooms in December. It is not necessary for parents to nominate a current second- or sixth-grader for consideration for highly capable services the following school year.
Additional information about the district’s Highly Capable Programs can be found at www.nsd.org/hicap.
