IntoEdVentures, a nonprofit organization, is looking for a host family for a high-school foreign exchange student, Joo Ho from Korea, hoping to spend the fall semester at Bothell High.
The Business Development Center (BDC) at the University of Washington, Bothell celebrated two years of operations with its annual Report to the Community in April. Local business and government leaders gathered to share the work and accomplishments of the BDC and the community.
Bothell’s Country Village will host an “Awesome August” celebration for children from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2-3. The event features train and pony rides, cookie-making classes, an “Everything that Flies” demonstration, basket making, Art on the Spot, face painting, balloon animals, scavenger hunt, birdhouse making, character drawings, belly dancing class, Kings Original Kettle Korn, special kids menu, snow cones, games, prizes and more.
The Northshore School District’s ninth annual Backpacks for Kids donation drive will kick off July 18 and run through Aug. 8. It will benefit Northshore families who are unable to send their children to school with necessary school supplies.

The Northshore Fire Department responded to a mobile-home fire in the 7000 block of Northeast 175th Street in Kenmore July 1. Units from the Bothell and Shoreline fire departments also responded.
The Sammamish Valley Pioneer Association will host its annual Pioneer Picnic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20 at Blyth Park (16950 W. Riverside Drive, Bothell). The event is open to the public, and features free hot dogs to the first 100 people to arrive, as well as a flag-tag race, a balloon brigade and a leaky-cup relay.
