One block of Main Street will close between Bothell Way Northeast and 101st Avenue Northeast starting Aug. 14, according to the city of Bothell. The closure will last for about 30 days. Vehicles will not be allowed but sidewalks will remain open.
A second one-block closure between 101st and 102nd avenues is anticipated to begin in late September or early October and last about 24 days.
During both closures the contractor will demolish the existing roadway before rebuilding it as part of the Main Street Enhancement Project.
Businesses on Main Street remain open. Sidewalks behind the fencing will remain open as long as possible, even during roadway demolition. Access for those with disabilities via back or side entrances will be in place before any sidewalk demolition in front of businesses.
Parking is available in a temporary lot between State Route 522 and Main Street, as well as at City Hall, 18415 101st Ave NE.
The Main Street Enhancement Project is a key component of Bothell’s Downtown Revitalization Plan, rebuilding the City’s historic Main Street with wide sidewalks and flexible use zones for outdoor dining in good weather, among other benefits. The project is on schedule, with incentives for the contractor to finish by Thanksgiving.
