Northshore School District honored the Northshore YMCA at the Washington Association of School Administrators Community Recognition Event for its strong partnership with the district providing a variety of programs and opportunities for Northshore youth and families.
For many years, Northshore YMCA has been a strong partner of the Northshore School District, providing a variety of programs and opportunities for Northshore youth and families. They operate before- and after-school childcare at many district elementary schools, provide free childcare for PTA meetings at those schools, offer activities and programs at local schools and provide leadership opportunities for students through their Youth and Government program.
They also collaborate with the district to support specific student needs such as a summer camp for Spanish-speaking students and a Home Zone, swimming, gym and art program for students participating in the district’s educational consulting program, Northshore Networks. Northshore YMCA is a significant partner in our recently launched after-school Hang Time program at three junior high schools. They provide coordination assistance and volunteers to mentor students and fund a part-time staff person at each of the participating schools.
