Trudy Rolla
• Why are you running?
I want to continue providing the community with my services on the Northshore Utility District (NUD) board. I believe that my expertise helps to meet the needs of the district and its ratepayers.
• What are the top issues?
Public health. Houses with poorly functioning or failing septic-tank systems contaminate the environment, and can cause disease. Houses with non-functioning septic systems may need to be vacated, which can reduce the value of the surrounding houses. Every year, I make sure that the budget includes funding for providing sewer service to homeowners with failing septic systems, based on an inventory of known problem areas and aging systems.
Safety. After the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, the federal government required critical infrastructure services to assess their vulnerability to attack and ensure that they prepared to meet those potential attacks. In addition, the water system is threatened by natural disasters, especially earthquakes. I worked on the committee of NUD directors and staff to ensure that the federal requirements were met, and that the measures employed were state of the art, sustainable and stayed within budget.

• Why are you running?
I am running for the Northshore Utility District Board of Commissioners because I deeply care about the Northshore community, the water we drink, the environment we enjoy and the distribution of our resources. As a small-business owner in the district, my accounting, management and experience with development will be beneficial to the Northshore community, as the board decides where to grow and what to conserve.
• What are the top issues?
As commissioner, my top issues will be maintaining excellent service as the district grows, controlling costs and preparing for improvements. Managing the water capacity within the district will require technical improvements, and the difficult decision of inter-district resource sales.
• Why should people vote for you?
The Northshore Utility District Board of Commissioners needs someone with my experiences; I’ve owned and run a small business for the past 25 years, I was raised in Kenmore, and I attended Inglemoor High School. My work is in real-estate sales, real-estate development and property management.
Vote for me because I’m passionate about issues facing our district, I’m disciplined and I deeply care about our community. I’m a good listener; I will meet with any resident of the Northshore Utility District and listen, as I represent the citizens and the district.

• Why are you running?
I am running for re-election to continue to provided good management and service to the consumers of the Northshore Utility District. I have enjoyed the opportunity to be of service to the community and to return something to it.
•What are the top issues?
There are no real issues in this race, but I am committed to continue to provide safe water, and safely take away your sewer with reliable good service and with as economical a rate as is reasonably possible to continuing to provide that good service. Our rates are lower than most of the water, sewer and utility districts around the north end of Lake Washington.
• Why should people vote for you?
Because for 17 years, I have provided quality sewer and water service at low rates to you.
