The Northshore Transportation Department Road-eo Team made a big impact at the annual school bus driver safety competition.

The team took first and second place in the basic education bus competition, third place in the special needs competition and had the highest team cumulative score. Tracey Rachuy took first place and Melanie Nelson took second place in the basic education competition, and Michelle Chapman and Cindi Gunderson took third place in the special needs competition. The four will be advancing to the state competition to be held in Yakima in June.

The road-eo, an annual Puget Sound Educational Service District School Bus Driver Safety Competition conducted by the Puget Sound Driver Trainers Association, was held May 31, at Graham Kapowsin High School in Graham.

The competition tests technical driving skills, including student stop and load, backing in, parallel parking and right hand turns. The competition also includes a written test.
