These two photographs were the winners of the first week’s photo contest, however they were but a few of the submissions. Keep the photos coming, we’re already on the look out for next week’s winner!

This week’s first place winner is Dora Victor for this stolen moment with a local raccoon!

This heron was caught in mid-takeoff during on the morning of March 4, just off 181st Street and 73rd Avenue NE in Kenmore.

Here’s the rules:

  1. Submission to the ‘Northshore Snapshots’ photo of the week contest is taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  2. Entrants may only submit one (1) photograph per week
  3. The photographs should be taken during the week they are submitted
  4. Entries should be submitted via email to POTW@bothell-reporter.com with “Entry” in the subject line. Images must be labelled (titled) with the entrants name and the files should be in 72 dpi, between 1 and 3 MBs in size. No postal entries will be accepted.
  5. Entries MUST be accompanied by the entrants name, address, phone number and the date and location of the image. No anonymous entries or those lacking date or location will not be accepted for the contest.
  6. All entries must be received by the closing time and date. Closing time will be 5 p.m. every Thursday.
  7. No late, illegible, incomplete, or corrupt entries will be accepted. Proof of transmission is not accepted as entry.
  8. Images entered in the Photo of the Week competition may not be altered or photoshopped in any way. The BKR has its own photo-editing requirements for web and print.
  9. All images submitted must be original works created by the entrants and must NOT be published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competition. This ensures the BKR does not infringe upon any copyright proprieties.
  10. Copyright in all images submitted for the Northshore Snapshots contest remains with the entrants, however by submitting works to the Photo of the Week competition, entrants are granting Sound Publishing and the Bothell/Kenmore Reporter to use the photographs solely for the purpose of the Northshore Snapshots photo of the week competition.
  11. Photographs must not contain any explicit or offensive content.
  12. Photographs must be of Bothell and Kenmore or taken within the cities and associated unincorporated areas.
  13. The winning entry will be the photographed judged to be the most visually appealing, original and self-explanatory entry of the week. The winner will be notified on the Friday of publication.
