Northshore Junior High’s Carey honored in Doodle 4 Google contest; voting is under way for national finalists

Under the theme of “If I could travel in time, I’d visit…,” Carey submitted a drawing titled “Tick Tock Oil the Clock” with a descriptor of: “Time has allowed everything to become what it is for better and worse and nobody can change that but there is 86,400 seconds in a day each has possibilities tick tock.”

The U.S. public will vote for their favorite doodle from the 50 state winners. Online voting will take place now through May 10 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. The highest-ranking doodler from each grade group will be named as a national finalist. Google will announce the five national finalists (one per grade group) at an awards ceremony held in New York City on May 17. All state winners’ doodles displayed in a special exhibit at the New York Public Library.

Go online to www.doodle4google.com and vote. The national winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a computer, a digital design tablet and a $50,000 technology grant for their school.

Carey and her family will be flown to New York City for the announcement of the national winner. The winning doodle will be announced on May 17 and featured on the Google.com homepage on May 18.
