No injuries in Kenmore house fire on Northeast 65th Avenue

An electrical malfunction to a bathroom fan caused a house fire in Kenmore this morning.

According to Northshore Fire Department Marshal Jeff LaFlam, firefighters were dispatched at 3:23 a.m. to the residence at the 19600 block of Northeast 65th Avenue. One of the occupants was awakened by the smell of smoke and discovered fire in an upstairs bathroom. He quickly attempted to extinguish the fire, and then all five occupants evacuated the house and he called 911 to report the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw flames coming from the roof of the home and made a rapid interior attack. The fire was under control in approximately 10 minutes. Personnel from the Shoreline and Bothell fire departments assisted the Northshore firefighters.

The fire damage is estimated to be $10,000, and there were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
