A new family practice with a medical doctor and a naturopathic doctor is now open in Bothell.
n1Health LLC is a Richmond, Virginia based firm that makes active investments in partnerships with physicians to modernize their practices and the way in which they bring value to their communities. The company believes that the American health care system is evolving in a way that serves neither the interests of providers nor the true payers for health care (patients and employers). n1Health enables patients to engage in relationships with their doctors without fully relying on health insurance to dictate the pace and scope of their care.
“Our move into the Seattle area represents a giant step for n1Health as we continue to grow our member-based practices around the country,” said Tom Blue, president of n1Health. “We are known for our unique focus on the root-cause treatment of diseases that goes beyond alleviating the symptoms.”
Northshore Family Practice is a collaborative practice run by physicians Barbara Mendrey, M.D., and Joshua Goldenberg, N.D. (doctor of naturopathic medicine). The doctors work in tandem with a patient, combining traditional Western medicine with naturopathic medicine.
“This collaboration is complementary,” Mendrey said. “You get more than either one of us. The sum is greater than the two parts. It’s very synergistic.” She added, “We spend more time listening to our patients, more time on the diagnostics to get to the root cause of a disease or disorder, and more time to treat them effectively with better outcomes.”
Both doctors are passionate about patient care and spend far more time than the average 15 minutes a busy physician takes with a patient in most primary care practices. Patients develop a trust and rapport that create a deep bond and a willingness to take the necessary lifestyle steps toward healthier lives.
“I love the fact that patients feel empowered,” Goldenberg said. “They open up to us because we don’t have a traditional hierarchical relationship. We are a thriving practice and can see patients from a wide radius in the region; we keep in constant contact with them via email, phone and Skype.”
