New Bothell Parks and Recreation Foundation seeks board members

The City of Bothell has launched the Bothell Parks and Recreation Foundation and is seeking board members to lead this new organization. Ultimately, the foundation will be a stand-alone body working in conjunction with the City of Bothell Parks and Recreation Department to promote and enhance parks and recreation services.

“We’re hoping the Bothell Parks and Recreation Foundation can be a large contributor to the future success of parks and recreation in Bothell,” Parks and Recreation Director John Keates said.

The foundation has received its non-profit 501(3) designation, allowing it to apply for grants and receive donations to improve and acquire more park and open space in Bothell. In addition, the foundation could engage in advocacy, support park improvements and help fund and develop special events and recreation programs.

The parks and recreation department’s upcoming projects include:

  • the upcoming development of 1st Lt. Nicholas Madrazo Park;
  • master planning for the North Creek Forest;
  • the possible acquisition of the Wayne Golf Course and the Shelton View Woods;
  • renovating the Park at Bothell Landing;
  • sustaining and developing recreation programs and special events; and
  • sustaining parks maintenance levels of service.

Those interested in becoming board members should contact Keates at 425-806-6760 or john.keates@bothellwa.gov. For more information about the foundation, visit www.bothellwa.gov/965/Parks-and-Recreation-Foundation.
