• Air Force Airman Matthew S. Henson of Bothell graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
• Air Force Airman Hollis L. Howell III graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.
He is the son-in-law of Mark Mills of Bothell.
• Air Force Reserve Airman Mark N. Spear of Bothell graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.
• Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Roderick A. Schwald is currently deployed at a forward operating base in Afghanistan supporting the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners.
Schwald, a first sergeant with 24 years of military service, is normally assigned to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
He is the son of Bob Schwald of Bothell and Mickey Schwald of Mountlake Terrace.
