Throughout her legislative career, Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, D-Bothell, has been dedicated to removing barriers for students and people with disabilities. In recognition of her efforts, the Community Employment Alliance of Washington has honored her with a lifetime achievement award.
“I have always had a place in my heart for children with special needs,” McAuliffe said. “It is so important to reach these kids early on so that they are prepared to enter the workforce and live robust and fulfilling lives.”
During the 2014 and 2015 legislative sessions, McAuliffe sponsored legislation that streamlined and promoted opportunities for students with disabilities in transition services.
“Students and workers with special needs should be celebrated for the varied contributions they provide to our classrooms and workplaces. Not only is it rewarding for people with disabilities to be included, it’s rewarding for the employers and schools that embrace them, include them and create opportunities for them,” McAuliffe said.
The Community Employment Alliance is a Washington state membership organization representing employment service providers for people with disabilities. Their members are dedicated to working together to promote employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
