A Northshore School District team will compete this Friday and Saturday in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition at Key Arena in Seattle. The event begins at 8:45 a.m. each day.

FIRST is a national organization inspiring student success in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

In the Microsoft Seattle Regional 2010, 64 high-school teams from Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Turkey will battle, robot against robot, in front of thousands of fans. Teams are rewarded for robot design, technology, sportsmanship and gracious professionalism.

The student-built robots will be designed to play soccer.
