Donna Tyo, assistant principal at Bothell High, has been honored as the 4A Kingco Conference High School Assistant Principal of the Year.
She has a reputation for handling any crisis calmly and directly. Tyo manages many projects at the school, including the logistics of Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) testing.
During her 20 years at Bothell High, Tyo has served as assistant principal, athletic director and physical-education teacher. Additionally, this year she is supervising an administrative intern who hopes to become a school principal.
“Donna works diligently to improve her leadership skills and is willing to step outside of her assistant principal responsibilities to take on new challenges,” said Bothell High Co-Principal Bob Stewart.
Co-Principal Heather Miller agrees: “Donna relates very well to students and is firm, caring and direct. She is well-respected by her colleagues and has led many committees over the past six years.”
Tyo’s name will be forwarded to the Association of Washington School Principals for consideration for state recognition.
