With 180,000 uninsured adults who are newly eligible for affordable health insurance, King County is hosting a large enrollment event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Third Place Commons, 17171 Bothell Way NE in Lake Forest Park.

Elected leaders, including Lake Forest Park Mayor Mary Jane Goss, State Sen. David Frockt, State Rep. Cindy Ryu and King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski will speak briefly about the importance of making health insurance more available at 11 a.m.

This event is aimed at people who need help navigating or accessing the new insurance website, called Washington Healthplanfinder.

During the first week of business, nearly 20,000 people statewide signed-up for insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder. Most people are enrolling privately, online. But assistance is offered for people who may not have online access, or may be confused about the system or some of the choices. In King County, residents can choose from more than 30 different insurance plans. At a similar in-person event last week in Seattle, more than 150 people attended.

What people should bring to be ready to enroll:

• Names, birthdays, address and contact info for all household members

• Social Security numbers

• Passport, alien, or other immigration numbers — for any legal immigrants who need health care coverage

• Estimated tax status for 2012, 2013 and 2014 for all household members

• Income information for 2012, 2013 and 2014 for all adults and all minors age 14 or older who are required to file a tax return

• Information about health insurance already available to your family (Employer sponsored health insurance, Medicare, TriCare, PeaceCorps insurance, etc.)
