Snohomish County prosecutors have changed a Bothell man, who is also a King County juvenile corrections officer, with second-degree domestic violence in connection with an incident last August.

Tyriff Rudder, who has been on paid administrative leave from his corrections position since September, allegedly choked his roommate and broke his leg, according to court documents. The charge is a felony.

Rudder, 33, allegedly came into his roommate’s bedroom and put him into a head lock, throwing him to the ground.

The victim told investigators he began to cry after he heard his leg snap and pleaded with Rudder to let go of his arm and call 911. Rudder refused but a neighbor heard the commotion and called authorities.

When Snohomish County Sheriff deputies arrived they heard the man screaming but no one answered the door, according to court documents.

Rudder eventually answered the door, seeming intoxicated and refusing to let deputies into the premises, the court documents continued.

Deputies cuffed Rudder, who protested stating that his roommate had fallen down the stairs.

The roommate told police that he thought his ankle was broken but denied being assaulted.

The man was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery for fractures to his tibia and fibula bones in one leg.

The victim contacted police a week later to tell them that his roommate entered his room while he was sleeping and assaulted him. He claimed that Rudder was hallucinating that night.

The roommate claimed that lied because he feared for his life, court documents continued.
