Kenmore seeks volunteers and sponsors to support 2014 community events

Kenmore community events create memories, bring together the community and showcase Kenmore’s beautiful parks.

Kenmore community events create memories, bring together the community and showcase Kenmore’s beautiful parks. The city of Kenmore collaborates with local businesses and non-profit groups to offer four community events per year that attract over 8,000 visitors to the Kenmore community.

Kenmore’s four annual community events include: 4th of July Fireworks Show, Summer Concert Series, Kenmore Play Day, and the Christmas Tree Lighting. To provide these free community events to the public, the city relies on the help of sponsors and volunteers.

The city is seeking volunteers and sponsors to help produce the 2014 special event season. The specialty team of event volunteers the city is looking to fill is called the Kenmore Events Team or KET. KET volunteers hold leadership positions and help direct the work of support volunteers. KET positions are available to people 18 years or older and include: event information concierge, vendor coordination, hospitality coordination, parking coordination, entertainment coordination, volunteer coordination, operations and logistics, sponsor and marketing coordination, event assistance, first aid and safety, and children activities. KET is a year-long commitment and requires 4-6 hours of training. If you love to attend special events, are enthusiastic and love to work with the public, consider becoming a KET volunteer. Applications are available on the city’s website, www.kenmorewa.gov. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on May 16.

Community event sponsorships are now available for review at www.kenmorewa.gov/events. Affordable sponsorships are available as a package and include all four special events. Or, for businesses looking to sponsor a single event, Individual Event Sponsorships are also available.
