Kenmore residents are being sought for pro and con committees to prepare statements on a Walkways and Waterways bond measure that will be included in the King County Local Voters’ Pamphlet.

The Kenmore City Council has passed an ordinance placing the Walkways and Waterways measure on the Nov. 8 general election ballot.

Voters will be asked to approve a bond measure to fund new sidewalks and bike lanes on Juanita Drive and 68th Avenue and public waterfront improvements at Log Boom Park, Rhododendron Park and Squire’s Landing Park.

Each committee’s statement for the Voters Pamphlet must be no more than 200 words and be submitted to King County Elections no later than 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, regardless of postmark. Any rebuttal statements are due by Aug. 15.

Selected by City Councilmembers, committee member appointments will be made during the Kenmore City Council meeting on July 25 at 7 p.m. Candidates need not be present to be appointed.

Those interested in applying for one of the committee positions should submit their name, contact information, and a brief statement as to why they would like to serve on one of the committees. There is a limit of three members per committee, but committees may seek advice of any number of people to assist in developing the statements.

The deadline to apply is Monday, July 11 at 5 p.m. Applications may be submitted by email to cityhall@kenmorewa.gov, in-person at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave NE, or by mail at City of Kenmore, Attn: Community Relations Manager, PO Box 82607, Kenmore, WA 98028.
