Western Washington University student Hannah Fast received a $750 William Wade Haggard Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The William Wade Haggard Scholarship is awarded to upperclassmen pursuing a program to teach mathematics at the elementary or secondary-school level. Selection is based on grade-point average in mathematics courses and participation in student activities.
Fast, a junior, is majoring in mathematics, has earned a 3.88 GPA and is expecting to graduate in December 2012. Her goals after graduation are to become an elementary- or middle-school teacher.
