Kenmore prepares for farmers market pilot program this Summer

The city is accepting logo designs for the market from community members.

On December 13, 2021, the Kenmore City Council approved a one-year, pilot program farmers market for the summer of 2022.

The Kenmore Farmers Market will run on Wednesdays from 3 pm – 7 pm during the months of June, July, and August and will be held at NE 181st St between 68th Ave NE & 67th Ave NE & Kenmore’s Town Square.

According to the city, access and patronage for nearby businesses will be maintained, and parking will be available for market shoppers at City Hall.

The market will host a variety of local vendors, with a focus on sustainably grown produce. City of Kenmore staff will be planning, operating, and managing the market with guidance from experts in the industry.

“The new Kenmore Farmers Market will give our community access to a wider variety of healthy and sustainable food options and will support our local Kenmore businesses,” said Kenmore Mayor Nigel Herbig. “It will also be a great opportunity to connect outdoors with neighbors and friends on a weekly basis this summer.”

The City is also holding a contest to design the logo for the new Kenmore Farmers Market. Logo entries should show fruits, vegetables, or both and should be in color.

Entries must be submitted by Monday, February 28 to farmersmarket@kenmorewa.gov or can be dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours. The winner will receive recognition on the City’s website and communications, as well as their logo displayed on all Farmers Market materials, flyers, and signs.

Kenmore Farmers Market operations beyond the 2022 pilot program will be evaluated as part of the biennial 2023-2024 budget process later this year.
