Kenmore begins 2017-18 budget process

City of Kenmore Finance and Administration Director Joanne Gregory began preliminary budget discussions for the 2017-18 biennial budget with Kenmore City Council at the Sept. 26 meeting.

City Manager Rob Karlinsey, Gregory and the councilmembers discussed the priorities for the city before Gregory meets with city departments to determine the exact dollar amounts for the budget. A copy of Gregory’s budgeting presentation can be found on the city’s website, kenmorewa.gov.

The Sept. 26 city council meeting was just the first in a series of public meetings and events where the budget will be up for discussion. An overview of the proposed preliminary budget will be presented at the Oct. 10 city council meeting, and discussion of the budget will be on the agenda at every meeting through Dec. 12. The council typically meets at 7 p.m. on the second, third and fourth Mondays of the month at Kenmore City Hall. Public hearings will be held for the budget during the Oct. 24, Nov. 14 and Nov. 28 council meetings.

The city council is scheduled to adopt the budget at its Dec. 12 meeting.
