Johanna “Catherine” VandenAkker of Snohomish died Aug. 11, 2010. She was 93.

She was born in Boskoop, Holland. Along with husband Tony, in 1953 they bought a place on the Sammamish Slough in Bothell, which became VandenAkker’s Nursery for 48 years. She was also the caretaker of the grand old Monte Villa Farm house in Bothell for more than 30 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1512 Pine Ave. in Snohomish.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Everett Providence Hospital Hospice program.
