Al Galgalim: Training Wheels, a program for families with children ages 3-5 is now being formed by the Seattle Chapter of Hadassah in Bothell. This Jewish family education program — developed by Hadassah and the WHIZIN Institute of the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, combines songs and activities that will guide adults and children in celebrating Shabbat and the Jewish holidays. In the friendly environment of a small group setting, Training Wheels provides a support system for parents and grandparents who share concerns about raising children in the Jewish tradition.
Nine two-hour Training Wheels sessions will be held at the Northshore YMCA in Bothell led by Jody Cook — rabbi, education consultant, teacher and professionally trained Hadassah facilitator. The size of the group will be limited to ensure optimum interaction. Prior knowledge of Jewish customs and holidays is not necessary. The fee of $140 includes Hadassah membership as an added bonus, as well as materials for the program.
The sessions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 14, Oct. 5, Nov. 9, Dec. 7, Jan. 18, Feb. 8, March 8, April 5 and May 3.
