The Family Support Center of South Snohomish County in partnership with Momentums of Bothell and The Children of Our Village will host Family Fest — A Walk in the Park from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 4.
Parents, children, teens and adults will find an extensive venue of fun and learning with activities, lectures, entertainment, food and demos at Terrace Creek Park, 23200 48th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace.
There will be areas designated for parents, children and teens, Frisbee golf demos, a gymnastic course, music from singer-songwriters Norine Braun, Jennifer Savage and Jennifer Youngs and a book signing by inspirational author Bo Bishop, “Seeds of Change.”
“This is an opportunity for the community to come together and stand for our families. Momentums is committed to enriching the lives of children, caretakers and parents by connecting resources, listening to what needs are not being fulfilled and providing the support needed to make a real difference. This is your chance to contribute in the lives of others,” said Samantha Hayes, founder of the nonprofit Momentums.
The Children of Our Village is a Washington nonprofit organization committed to assuring that children have experiences that enrich their lives and inspire their future.
Sharon Maynard of Children added: “If we really know that children are our future, the greatest resources that we have, then, as a society, we are falling short. The distress and pain that causes young people and teens to take their own lives cannot be ignored. This year, The Children of Our Village will act as sponsoring space for teens and those concerned about them to come together in conversations and actions that will change the current environment of hopelessness. We are losing too many amazing resources because families have been trying to do it alone. Together is the only way that we can make the changes our children need.”
