Inglemoor High’s orchestra won the Washington Orchestra Cup for the most outstanding performance of the day at the Western Washington University Orchestra Festival held March 10 in Bellingham. In addition to the prestigious cup award, they also earned a gold award for their performance.
Inglemoor’s orchestra, under the direction of instrumental music director Jim Rice, performed String Symphony No. 2 in D Major, 1st Movement, “Allegro,” by Felix Mendelssohn, Serenade for Strings, 3rd Movement “Meditation,” by Jack Jarrett and Concerto Grosso, 1st Movement, “Prelude,” by Ernest Bloch.
The gold award reflects a performance standard of the highest caliber. Bothell High, Canyon Park Junior High and Kenmore Junior High orchestras all won gold awards for their performances.
Fourteen middle-/high-school groups performed at the festival. The day concluded with a performance by the Western Washington University orchestra.
