Snow blanketed Bothell late yesterday afternoon, and Bothell crews worked through the night and as of this morning, all roads are cleared for travel, according to the city’s Web site.
On Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:15 pm, a strong weather system set up over Bothell producing locally heavy snow and icy conditions. Due to the time of day, traffic quickly backed up making it difficult to operate snow-and ice-removal equipment that had been deployed out in the field, according to Nik Stroup, the city’s Public Works superintendent. By approximately 8 p.m., the heavy snow ended and the roads began to clear of traffic. Public Works operations teams worked through the night clearing priority roads for the before the morning commute.
Stroup said that today again brings a full deployment of personnel and equipment plowing, applying anti-ice and sanding all throughout Bothell. With the cold weather now in place, Bothell Public Works will continue to assess the road conditions throughout the weekend deploying resources as necessary.
Due to slick streets and parking lots in the Bothell area, the Northshore Senior Center will be closed today, according to director Gary Kingsbury.
