The National Weather Service has put out a special weather statement for Western Washington saying a period of hot weather is expected through next week.
Temperatures during the day, beginning on Friday, are expected to reach the 70s and 80s, increasing to the 80s or 90s during the beginning of next week.
While the hot weather, especially over the Fourth of July holiday, are expected to bring many people to the water, the NWS reminds residents that water in the area is still very cold.
Mercer Island’s highs are forecasted to reach the low to mid 80s over the weekend, and are likely to increase to the high 80s on Monday and Tuesday.
