Here’s to 100 years — and many more

It is a great honor to congratulate the city of Bothell as a century-young city!

It is a great honor to congratulate the city of Bothell as a century-young city!

This year marks the 100-year anniversary of our incorporation as a city. I can only imagine the pride that our founders would feel if they could only see Bothell now. This anniversary is a wonderful time for reflection on the local, regional and national progress our city has experienced over the past 100 years, as well as the bright future our city.

This year marks the most exciting time in history to be a part of Bothell. We are investing more than $100 million of capital investment for the downtown revitalization, which will provide the chance of a lifetime to enhance our community for the next 100 years.

The city of Bothell has grown up as a full-service municipal corporation that cherishes its heritage and honors it in everything it does. As I reflect on my service to our community as mayor, I would treasure the opportunity to talk with our namesake George Bothell and share with him what we have achieved and are striving to do in the upcoming years: Realigning State Route 522, creating a service-rich, pedestrian-friendly Multiway Boulevard on State Route 527 and much more. I believe that he would encourage our city leaders to forge on with this frontier spirit and build a vision for our future with fiscal responsibility and vigor. With this strength and courage, we can make Bothell an ever-evolving city that provides the highest quality of life for generations to come.

Although this city has a centennial worth of change, from its early beginnings as a small logging town to a globally known player in the biomedical field, one constant remains the same: Bothell’s community spirit is unsurpassed and new pioneers are made every day beginning with our children through our senior citizens. The work we do today will provide a second foundation for the work that was done in 1909.

On behalf of city of Bothell, I thank you for your daily contributions to making Bothell a town worth celebrating after 100 years.
