Football / Bothell to take on Rogers tonight in state playoffs

Behind Luke Proulx’s four touchdown runs and quarterback Mitchell Muller’s four touchdown passes, the No. 1 Cougars defeated visiting Stanwood, 61-0, in a 4A district seeding game last Friday night at Pop Keeney Field.

Next up is the state playoffs, which begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight for the 10-0 Cougars against 7-3 Rogers at Pop Keeney.

Against Stanwood, Proulx ran for TDs of 7, 23, 53 and 57 yards and Kevin Knapp hauled in two of Muller’s TD passes for 36 and 59 yards.

Bothell led 28-0 after one quarter and cruised into halftime with a 48-0 lead.

Proulx leads the team with 23 TDs this season, while Muller has thrown for 26 TDs.

The Cougars have outscored their opponents 437-44 this season.

For Rogers, running back Bennett Bontemps — listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds — leads the way with 16 TD runs this season. He racked up four in a 48-7 win over Beamer and busted out a 93-yard TD run in a 34-2 victory over Spanaway Lake.

Rogers is coming off a 29-26 win over Olympia last Friday.
