Kenmore officials want to remind residents that in 2004, Kenmore City Council passed Ordinance Number 04-0204 making the sale, discharge or possession of any fireworks illegal.

Fireworks banned in the city include so-called “safe and sane” fireworks, which are legal in some Washington cities.

The ordinance became effective June 18, 2005.

Fireworks offenses are misdemeanors with a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and/or $1,000 fine.
