According to a Seattle Times report, the State Patrol says alcohol or drugs were a likely factor in the fatal crash Thursday morning that killed Gale P. Arnold, 63, of Everett, on Bothell-Everett Highway just north of Maltby Road.
According to Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol, witnesses said a 31-year-old man from Bothell was driving a Honda Accord erratically south on the highway at about 7 a.m. when he collided with Arnold’s vehicle. Arnold died at the scene.
After the initial collision, the Honda struck a second car, but not injuring the driver, a 31-year-old Bothell woman. The driver of the Honda, who was driving on a suspended license, was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda has had prior convictions for attempted manufacturing of marijuana, cocaine possession and driving with a suspended license, according to court records.
Leary asks that any witnesses to the accident call the State Patrol at (360) 654-1204.
