Court papers filed with King County Superior Court have identified the Bothell man arrested Aug. 20 in connection with the alleged armed robbery of a Bothell espresso stand and possibly up to three more similar incidents that recently took place in Renton.
Prosecutor’s papers say Jack Daniel Keeler, III, age 26, could be charged with multiple felony counts of robbery.
In Bothell, officials allege Keeler robbed the Dolce Vita Espresso stand, 17716 Bothell Way Northeast, just after 1 p.m. Aug. 19.
Court papers state a 23-year-old female employee of the stand was working alone and preparing to close up the shop in order to go to the bank. The suspect appeared at the east window of the stand, allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded money.
The employee told police she surrendered $261 in the store’s money, along with $100 in cash of her own. The suspect asked for more money, but the employee insisted she had given him all she had and the man eventually left.
Again, according to court papers, Bothell police showed the employee of the local stand surveillance pictures taken Aug. 15 during one of the alleged incidents in Renton. Officials say the Dolce Vita employee identified the man in the picture as the suspect who robbed her.
Using the pictures and the employee’s identification of the suspect, Bothell police began looking at Keeler who officials say had left home two weeks earlier. Prosecutor’s papers say police tracked down his whereabouts by tracing a cell phone used to call Keeler’s parents. Keeler was arrested in the lot of the Homestead Suites Hotel in Bellevue.
Following his arrest, according to Bothell Police Public Information Officer Capt. Denise Langford, Keeler confessed to the Bothell robbery and three additional robberies. Court papers state police recovered a black B-B gun, described as a “Sig Sauer look-a-like,” from Keeler’s car.
As of earlier this week, Keeler was still in King County jail, possibly facing up to $150,000 bond. Papers state Keeler has a previous conviction for DUI, is facing pending cases for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and has two outstanding warrants.
