Emergency 911 education tour stops in Bothell

As 911 National Public Education Month kicks off in April, Seattle Public Library, King County Library System and the King County E-911 program office are partnering for Emery the Emergency Penguin Storybook tour, a fun and educational program aimed at teaching preschoolers about 911.

As 911 National Public Education Month kicks off in April, Seattle Public Library, King County Library System and the King County E-911 program office are partnering for Emery the Emergency Penguin Storybook tour, a fun and educational program aimed at teaching preschoolers about 911.

The tour visited the Bothell Library on Tuesday to share the lesson with local elementary students. Kayreen Lum, E-911 Program Manager III, read to the Bothell kids.

Local children will be the first to hear Emery the Emergency Penguin’s story, Emery and the Ice Carnival, learn a 911 song and even go home with an Emery coloring book.

Throughout the month of April, Emery’s storybook will tour 13 local libraries.

More than 5,000 911 calls are made every day in King County and an emergency can happen at any time. Teaching children to call 911 can save a life in the event of an emergency.
