Kenmore Junior High seventh-grader Brandon Lane, left, sorts donations this morning for the school’s Pack the Bus food drive.
This week, students are collecting food and cash donations for the Concern for Neighbors food bank in Mountlake Terrace. Last year, they collected 11,300 food items, and items and cash totaled $11,899.50. This year’s goal is 15,000 items.
After students fill boxes each morning, they are moved onto a school bus, which sits in the parking lot all week. On Friday, items will be put on a truck and driven to Concern for Neighbors.
The March 18 issue of the Reporter will feature a story on Northshore School District student community service projects.
