The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) seeks public comment on Kenmore’s recently updated Shoreline Master Program, which would provide updated policies and regulations to manage the use and protection of Kenmore’s portions of Lake Washington, the Sammamish River and Swamp Creek.

Ecology will host a community workshop/meeting and public hearing on the Kenmore shoreline program proposal March 31 in the Kenmore City Council Chambers at 18120 68th Ave. N.E. Experts from Ecology and Kenmore will be available to answer questions. The open house will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the public hearing at 7 p.m.

The updated master program guides construction and development in the city’s eight miles of stream and lake shorelines. It combines local plans for future development and preservation with new development ordinances and related permitting requirements.

Under Washington’s voter-approved Shoreline Management Act, Ecology must review and approve Kenmore’s program before it takes effect.
