Congresswoman Suzan DelBene will host two interactive budget workshops with constituents this week in Bothell and Mount Vernon. The events are unique, interactive events for local constituents to share their ideas with DelBene and create their own federal budgets. They are designed to facilitate a dialogue to create solutions to our country’s fiscal problems.
The Bothell workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the multipurpose room at the Northshore Senior Center, located at 10201 East Riverside Drive.
At the workshops, attendees will work in small groups reviewing and evaluating a wide range of options to write a federal budget. These options will include possible spending cuts, improvements to the health care system, tax reform and new revenue. During the workshop, attendees will engage in a realistic dialogue about the federal budget and how to grow our economy. Participants will evaluate a number of possible policy solutions, discuss what trade-offs need to be made and how to build the foundation for long-term economic growth.
The workshop will attempt to work past the usual partisan rhetoric and instead encourage participants to focus on positive next steps and answer questions such as: Where do we go from here? What key decisions need to be made to grow our economy, create jobs, grow the middle class and get our country on better fiscal grounds?
The events are free to the public, but due to limited space, the Congresswoman’s office is asking for attendees to RSVP at 425-485-0085 or RSVP.DelBene@mail.house.gov.
