Country Village workers are looking forward to the end of construction around their shops as they bring in summer events.

“We are so excited for the end of construction, this is huge for us,” said Nancy Stoll, owner of Quite the Find. “We had days where we had to close the entrance to County Village and I felt this really affected us because it caused a lot of confusion for people.”

The city of Bothell is wrapping up a project that included widening Bothell-Everett Highway from approximately 1200 feet south of 228th St. SE to 240th St. SE.

“This corridor is a major north-south route in Bothell that requires improvements to provide acceptable levels of service for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians,” said a city spokesperson.

Pavement was completed June 10 and now workers are constructing the sidewalk, a sound wall and installing a traffic signal at Country Village.

“This construction has certainly affected all of Bothell, not just Country Village,” said Katie Loveless, assistant manager for the village. “It’s been a challenge, one that we have been waiting every single day for it to be over. But there is an end in sight now and we are thrilled.”

Loveless said Country Village has been putting on events to get customers to make up for the decrease in foot traffic since construction started.

“We’ve been doing our best efforts to do promotions and events to still get people out here,” Loveless said.

One of those events, is the annual Brewfest hosted by Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation. The event this year is July 19 from 1-5 p.m. and will feature eight local breweries under the big tents, including Brickyard Brewing, Dirty Bucket Brewery, Duvall Springs Brewing, Foggy Noggin Brewing, Hi Fi Brewing, Lazy Boy Brewing, Triplehorn Brewing Company and Twelve Bar Brews. There is a $20 entry fee that includes a sampler glass and six 4-oz. A food truck will be on site.

“Attendees and the participating breweries mentioned they had fun last year and the event went great, so we are looking forward to bringing it back this year,” Loveless said.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation, which brings live arts to the schools in the Northshore School District at no cost to the students.
