Community can meet fire-chief finalists

The city of Bothell invites citizens to an open house and free barbecue reception to meet the six fire-chief finalists from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Downtown Firehouse (10726 Beardslee Blvd., Bothell). Specific candidate information was not available at press time.

Following the community reception, the finalists will participate in an interview process Aug. 17. The interview process consists of individual and panel interviews with the city manager, city directors and Fire and E.M.S. personnel. City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S. consists of 54 uniformed and nine civilian employees. The fire-chief position directly reports to the deputy city manager. The fire chief will be responsible for the management and administration of all fire and E.M.S. services and resources that serve the community, in addition to serving as the city’s director of emergency services. The position’s salary range is $111,192 to $141,048.

Interim Fire Chief Rudy Alvarado, who has led the department since April, decided he will not be a candidate for the position.

“I thank Chief Alvarado for his interim service to our community

during this recruitment process,” said Deputy City Manager Steve

Anderson.
