Comcast starting major construction projects in Northshore this year

Comcast is starting major construction projects in several Northshore neighborhoods throughout 2017, company officials said this week.

“Comcast is very aware that communications services are vital in the lives of our customers. We’re always adding capacity to increase what we can offer consumers, and we’re glad to do it to help our customers. People in the Bothell and Kenmore areas clearly want to be connected to the best in entertainment and telecommunications,” Chris May, Vice President of Engineering and Technology for Comcast in Washington, said.

Comcast currently has 60 projects under way or planned in the area on lines and ground equipment on streets, large buildings or entire neighborhoods to add or improve the infrastructure that allows the company to offer High-Speed Internet, video, digital voice, and smarthome services. The value of the improvements is more than $1 million.

In 2016, Comcast completed 118 projects in the Bothell and Kenmore area worth $1.9 million.

“Together with other technology and network deployments since 2010, Comcast has invested $1 billion in Washington State to upgrade our reliability and capacity, deploy new gigabit services and reach new residential and business customers,” Maks Goldenshtyen, a spokesman for Comcast, said.

This is a list of examples of the neighborhoods in the Northshore area where Comcast is adding capacity and doing other kinds of infrastructure improvements in the first half of 2017: 22600 block of Bothell Everett Highway, Bothell; 23000 area of 19th Ave SE, Bothell; 10200 block of Main St., Bothell; 22000 block of Meridian Ave. S., Bothell; 1300 block of Seattle Hill Road, Bothell; 18000 area of 68th Ave. NE, Kenmore; 8400 block of NE 155th St., Kenmore; 6700 block of NE 181st St., Kenmore; and 19900 block of 73rd Ave NE, Kenmore.

The patterns of activity are typical at Comcast, where tools allow the company to monitor signal strength and address any issues and build capacity proactively, May said.
